I recently read the story about Father John Kavanaugh, who traveled to Kolkata, India, to meet Mother Teresa. He asked her to pray for him. She asked, “What do you want me to pray for?”
He said, “Pray that I have clarity.”
Her response. “No, I will not do that. Clarity is the last thing you are clinging to and must let go of…I have never had clarity; what I have always had is trust. So I will pray that you trust God.”
What if the goal of the Christian life is walking in trusting faith rather than in perfect certainty?
